THE CarpeDM EXPERIENCE
Staying at Casa Carpedm feels like hanging out at mom’s, (familiar and safe) but then, at the very entrance of the Historic Center of Quito. This combination of worlds will make your stay way more interesting. On one hand: ancient churches, museums, narrow and historic streets, local markets, and Ecuadorian handicrafts, and on the other: a comfortable room, a cozy bed, a simple yet tasty breakfast, and Wi-Fi everywhere, all the time.
Our travel agency, located just one block away, makes it even better. Our famous Free Walking Tour (around the Old Town) is only the starting point, the rest is really up to you. We can help you organize Spanish Classes, Volunteering Opportunities, day tours around Quito and the Amazon, and even discover the Enchanted Islands of the Galapagos.

Seize the Day: Carpe diem is a phrase from a Latin poem by Horace (Odes 1.11). It is popularly translated as “seize the day.” making the most current opportunities because life is short! Carpe diem has been modified to CarpeDM to reflect an evolution in meaning adding the element of “Do More” Do More for yourself, for your community, family, and the environment.

After years of working in the corporate world, sets off to his ancestral roots in Ecuador to reconnect with his family and his heritage. Little did he know that this journey would lead him to found one of the most reputable travel companies in the region. CarpeDM Adventures!
We are all inspired by his professionalism and wisdom!
In 2015 Paul founded Casa CarpeDM to provide the best hosting service. In 2020 Paul started new projects. You can always find him in CarpeDM Adventures.

Started her internship at CarpeDM in 2010, working as a professional tour guide since then. Took her time off to start her second career as a theater actress where she had a chance to experience life in a different way.
During the pandemic, her passion and compromise made her our CEO and as part of her healing process, she has been working hard to keep Casa open for all of you. Dont get surprised to see her all the time in Casa CarpeDM, because is her home too.
In 2021 Fher founded River 1.5 in honor of River Alejandro P.M who guides from heaven our CarpeDM dreams.

Daniela is the youngest CEO, she started working at 17 years old, right after she finished high school. Her passion and love helped to keep open Casa CarpeDM during COVID-19 times. When everyone was closing up the tourism business her faith was the main ingredient to stay strong and keep going on.
She learned about tourism, management, and customer service by watching Paul and Fher. Danny is definitely the heart of CarpeDM. Now she is studying psychology in Buenos Aires to help everyone heal. Wait a few years for her new CarpeDM projects 😉

Lucìa came to CarpeDM to help us with the cleaning service and thanks to her great work she became one of the most important pillars. Lucìa came with zero English and even though she didn’t have the chance to finish primary school, she developed a great capacity of English understanding and more skills that makes her invaluable.

Kathy is the newest CarpeDM worker, her energy and smile fill all the spaces. She studied tourism and every day her knowledge is increasing in order to help all our guests. She has such a great and energetic Latin vibe.

Wilmelie Cruz Marrero2023-09-29My husband and I stayed in Carpedm after a long trip. Our options were Carpedm or secret garden but the secret garden was too busy to loud. Carpedm hostel is beautiful! The upstairs kitchen has city view, breakfast was delicious our room was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it if you want a peaceful relaxing and clean place!

The driver was prompt and very courteous and kind, even walked me to the front door of the hostel! The hostel was very welcoming and beautiful, and the rooms were clean with everything I needed for an overnight stay. Beds and pillows were comfortable, which I was super grateful for after 18 hrs of travel! Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay. I hope to return again in the future!

ethan v2023-09-23Quito Vacation I visited Quito before and after taking a trip to the Galapagos Islands, and I stayed at CasaCarpeDM through the agency that booked my trip. From the very beginning of the trip, even before I got to Quito, the customer service was excellent in regard to getting me a ride to and from the airport. I spoke with Fehr, and she was able to assure me that there would be a driver waiting for me when I arrived which was true and he was very easy to find! The ride was also a ton cheaper than what the agency provided as well. I ended up having breakfast and dinner on the last day at CasaCarpeDM which was great and cheap as well. Fehr also gave me some INCREDIBLE recommendations on the last day I was there. I ended up going to the "middle of the world" and Fehr was able to get me a driver to take me there and drop me off at every location and tourist site up there and the driver was there every time I was done at each location which made it a lot easier than an uber or lyft. She also mentioned going to Casa Agave which is an incredible tequila museum and bar which was an unbelievable recommendation. All in all, I had a great time staying at CasaCarpe and I would definitely stay there again if I go to Quito, Ecuador!
Florence R2023-09-17Great experience The hostal is really well located. The team - Fher, Cathy and the other girls - are really nice, friendly and helpful. We had to go to the hospital because my boyfriend was sick and the called quickly a cab, sent us to a good hospital. The manager of the hotel came to visit us at the hospital and was always available for anything. As well, they are so great organizing trips for their guests. We will go back there for sure if we go back to Quito.

A Fher é uma pessoa muito especial para mim e meu marido, pois já nos ajudou muito no ano passado durante a paralisação das estradas pelos protestos em 2022 e nos tornamos amigos desde então. Não deixe de conhecer esse lugar quando for se hospedar em Quito.

Heel fijn dat er een koelkast is en ruimte om te koken wanneer je dat wil. Daarnaast echt een voordeel dat je gefilterd water kan tappen zodat je drinkwater hebt! We waren met zijn vieren en hebben ons goed vermaakt hier. Aanrader om naartoe te gaan. De mensen zijn ook enorm aardig en kunnen redelijk tot goed Engels over het algemeen. Ze leende ons zelfs 20 dollar toen wij nog geen contant geld hadden. Heel aardig!

Location was good also and they booked extra tours for us as well. Good Wi-Fi service and option of dinner as well

The place is located at a very nice location at walking distance from historic center and I received a lot of help from the staff. Also the best Spanish school within Ecuador "Escuela de Super Español" is super close to Casa CarpeDM which was a great experience for me! I recommend Casa CarpeDM????????????

I am so glad I chose Casa CarpeDM based on the reviews. I wish I can give 7 stars instead of 5. ???? Its strategic location, the cleanliness of the building, the comfortable bed, the nice sitting area upstair with beautiful view of the city, the well equipped kitchen and the most important thing is the hospitality from the owner Fher and Daniella, her daughter. Fher and Daniella kindly gave us useful advices related to our trip, treated us as family and went above and beyond every time we needed their help. I can't thank them enough for welcoming us to their casita and being so genuine, helpful and kind. I highly recommend CarpeDM. It is our home away from home.

Thanks to its good location the city center is in walking distance and two houses from the hostal there is a great place to get affordable lunch. In comparison to the other well-reviewed hostels, Casa Carpe DM is further away from the market place, which especially at night is a sketchy and not that safe area ow town. Therefore, I felt safe at this hostel. Especially, I want to highlight the amazing staff - Fernanda and her daughter who manage the hostel are extremely professional, have the best recommendations and contacts as well as they are very great people with lots of knowledge, good values and speak perfectly English. They are always trying to make the guests feels as comfortable as possible and have inspiring ideas. Furthermore, the rooms are super, clean and the kitchen area and community space provide with a great view over Quito and everything you need in a kitchen. Muchas gracias a ustedes, espero que les vaya muy bien!

The airport pickup they organised for us was smooth and efficient. The facilities were clean and in good working order. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet enough for us to get a good sleep. I had seen some reviewers commenting on noise. It's true that there was some traffic noise in the mornings but nothing unusual for being in the middle of a big city. I would happily stay here again if I'm ever back in Quito!

Everything is spotless. Wifi was good, filtered water is provided and appreciated the airport transfers as well! Location is nice, close to other hostels and good restaurants, and a convenient walk to the historical center. ☹Huge disclaimer this is not their fault - just be aware there is some construction happening on the street in front, so it can be pretty noisy.
